Important changes on gas safety

On 1 April this year the Gas Safe Register replaced the CORGI gas registration scheme. This means the Gas Safe Register is the new authority and official industry stamp across Britain. Anyone installing, checking or repairing gas systems or appliances must be registered with Gas Safe by law. The CORGI registration is no longer valid.

How does this affect you?

If you are one of our tenants, check that anyone we send to check your gas systems or carry out a repair has an official ID card with the Gas Safe logo.

If you have bought a new gas cooker and want to get it connected, or want an older cooker taken out, you must make sure the engineer you get to do the work is Gas Safe registered.

If you are a leaseholder and want to get your boiler serviced or a gas cooker or fire fitted, serviced or taken out, you should likewise only employ a Gas Safe registered engineer.

So remember, make sure that whoever turns up to do the work has a Gas Safe registered ID card, clearly showing their own unique licence number and the new yellow Gas Safe Register logo.
